FLSA: At-Will / Exempt from Overtime / Exempt Bargaining Unit Contract Class Code: 1002 Salary Range 10: Min. $70,075.20 Mid. $84,094 Max. $98,092 Reports to: County Manager or assigned designee Position Closes Friday, May 31, 2024 @ 5:00 PM Summary: Under the direction of the County Manager or designee, this position requires highly responsible professional, administrative, and technical management work with responsibility for directing the functions assigned to the Grant County Finance Department. Manages and coordinates all financial operations for Grant County, including budget preparation and management, general accounting, accounts payable, revenue, payroll, procurement, capital assets/inventory, internal controls, and audit planning. The employee must exercise considerable independent judgment and initiative in supervising assigned functional areas and in planning and directing the financial internal control system. This employee works closely with the County Manager or designee and the County Treasurer. Minimum Education and Experience: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, plus 3-5 years of progressively responsible professional and administrative experience in local government finance. Possession of a current license as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred; OR equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in local governmental procedures, budget preparation, payroll, reports, contracts, grants, and purchasing. Supervisory experience Proven experience as director of finance or a similar role In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, laws, and best practices. Able to read and write proficiently; make highly complex calculations and use a ten-key calculator by touch; pleasantly deal with public; prepare and analyze reports and highly proficient in the use of computers and understand basic programs. Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting. Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software. An analytical mind with a strategic ability. Excellent organizational and leadership skills. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Valid New Mexico State Drivers License. Must have a good driving record to be insurable for liability purposes.
